“CONNECT – How culture and creativity can enrich the whole school curriculum”
Dumfries & Galloway is one of seven Local Authorities participating in Arts Across the Curriculum (AAC) which involves professional artists working with teachers and young people to experience learning across the curriculum, using culture and creativity. Examples include young people from P4 to S1 learning German through contemporary dance, Environmental Studies using textile design and ceramics and art and design using contemporary literature.
Connect outlines some of the key successes of AAC in Dumfries and Galloway and identifies lessons learned for the future. Connect relates closely to the Dumfries and Galloway Schools Services Policy on Creative and Cultural Learning: Making Connections, and demonstrates how this Policy can come alive in a classroom situation.
CREATE's aim to ensure access for all young people to the highest quality innovative learning and teaching has a profoundly important contribution to make to A Curriculum for Excellence.
As part of AAC educational resources were produced for use by teachers in the classroom and can be downloaded free
